Hiroshima Day has become a day of prayer for world peace, so we invited people to join us online on Friday 6th August in the evening for a quiet service of readings, poetry, music and prayer created by the Wellspring Community and generously shared with Uniting Churches to mark this day with worship and prayer.

We were joined by members of the Engadine St John Bosco social justice group, as well as some friends from Scotland who are associated with the Iona Community. Rather than fill up the space with the sound of our mutual introductions and social chatter, we instead chose for once to observe quiet, engaging with the day with shared lament, reflection and prayers for the future.

Wellspring is a dispersed and ecumenical Australian Christian community concerned with social justice. You may be able to find the liturgy here, at least until the page is taken down or archived.
