WELCOME

Friends, we are all welcome in this place. Our time together, is God’s gift to each of us. We come with what we know of and have experienced in life, we come seeking to discover what we don’t yet know about our God and God’s hopes and dreams for our lives. We declare in Jesus’ name that this is a safe physical, emotional and spiritual environment for all who search for meaning and purpose in life. Together let us seek to be Christ’s light and salt in the world. Welcome.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF COUNTRY

We live on a land which was never ceded and is still without Treaty between the Dharawal original inhabitants and what are still its European invaders. We acknowledge the need for a treaty and for truth telling. We acknowledge and honour the Dharawal elders past and present and join with them in seeking justice and reconciliation.

CHRIST CANDLE

We light this candle because it brings light to this place. We light this candle because it reminds us of Christ Jesus whom we proclaim is the Light of the world and we want His light to be part of our lives.

CALL TO WORSHIP

We come in faith God Creator, because you are faithful and bountiful.

We come in faith Christ Jesus, because your life echoes true in our lives.

We come in faith Holy Spirit, because you draw us in intimacy to God and to God’s world.

We come, to worship God, the Three in One, in faith hope and love. Hallelujah Risen Lord! Amen

HYMN TIS 477 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ModYoPReYYw or

Jesus call us here to meet Him
As through word and song and prayer
We affirm God’s promised presence
Where His people live and care.
Praise the God who keeps His promise
Praise the Son who calls us friends
Praise the Spirit who, among us
To our hopes and fears attends.

Jesus calls us to confess Him
Word of Life and Lord of All
Sharer of our flesh and frailness
Saving all who fail or fall.
Tell His holy human story
Tell His tales that all may hear
Tell the world that Christ in glory
Came to earth to meet us here.

Jesus calls us to each other
Found in Him are no divides.
Race and class and sex and language
Such are barriers He derides.
Join the hand of friend and stranger
Join the hands of age and youth
Join the faithful and the doubter
In their common search for truth.

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS

BIBLE READINGS Janene

Hebrews 11:1 – 3, 8 – 16 (NIV) Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Luke 12:32 – 35, 40 (NIV) “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning….because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

In this we hear and receive God’s Word of Life. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

We have not trusted you, but have doubted your mysterious grace.

We have enacted rituals, seeking pardon without making changes to the way we live.

We make many prayers but do our prayers please you?

Silence…

Lord Jesus, we are willing to follow you again, we have returned to your instruction.

Forgive our turning away, God of mercy, remember us and strengthen us in your steadfast love.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

Hear this affirmation of grace: though our turning has cut God deep, though God has not delighted in our ways, we are welcome with our confession, and our commitment to try again. We are forgiven. Hear, and be at peace. Amen

HYMN TIS 143 vs 1, 3 & 5

Immortal, invisible, God only wise
In light inaccessible, hid from our eyes
Most blessed most glorious, the Ancient of Days
Almighty, victorious, your great name we praise.

You give life to all, Lord, to both great and small

In all life now living, the true life of all;

We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree

Then wither: but ever unchanged you will be.

All praise we would render: reveal to our sight

What hides you is only the splendour of light;

And so let your glory, Almighty, impart

Through Christ in the story, your Christ to the heart.

MESSAGE (Paul) Are you energizer ready?

SCRIPTURE IN SONG 587 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMCVNrz58yw

Make way make way
For Christ the King
In splendour arrives
Fling wide the gates
And welcome Him into your lives.

Chorus

Make way (make way)
Make way (make way)
For the King of kings (for the King of kings)

Make way (make way)
Make way (make way)
And let His kingdom in.

He comes the broken hearts to heal
The prisoners to free
The deaf shall hear
The lame shall dance
The blind shall see.

And those who mourn with heavy hearts
Who weep and sigh
With laughter joy and royal crown
He’ll beautify.

We call you now to worship Him
As Lord of all
To have no gods before Him
Their thrones must fall.

OFFERING

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Heather

HOLY COMMUNION Elder – Leanne

Thanks be to you, O God, that we have risen this day

To the rising of this life itself.

Be the purpose of God between us and each purpose

The hand of God between us and each hand.

The pain of Christ between us and each pain

The love of Christ between us and each love.

O God, who brought us to the bright light of this new day

Bring us to the guiding light of eternity.

WORDS OF INVOCATION: Loving God, through your goodness we have this bread and wine to offer which earth has given and human hands have made. May we know your presence in the sahring of this bread so that we may know your touch in all bread, all matter. We celebrate the life that Jesus has shared among his community through the centuries and shares with us now. Made one in Christ and with each other, we offer these gifts and with them ourselves, a single holy living sacrifice. Amen.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world. Have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world. Have mercy on us.

Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world. Grant us your Peace.

DISTRIBUTION

HYMN TIS 589

Jesus calls us! O’er the tumult
Of our life’s wild restless sea
Day by day I hear Him sounding
saying, ‘Christian, follow me.’

As of old, St Andrew heard it
By the Galilean lake
Turned from home and toil and kindred
Leaving all for His dear sake.

Jesus calls us from the worship

Of the vain world’s golden store

From each idol that would keep us, saying
‘Christian, love me more.’

Jesus calls us! By Your mercies
Saviour, may we hear Your call
Give our hearts to Your obedience
Serve and love You best of all.

BLESSING & BENEDICTION

Hunger knocks at the door: may we be ready with bread.

Thirst taps at the window: may we be ready with water.

Homelessness pulls up in the driveway: may we be ready with tents.

Disease and poverty ring the bell: may we be ready to care, to share.

You are the knock, the ring, the tap: the unexpected guest.

You are the one for whom we wait: help us to see you in every guest.

And the blessing of God, Creator, Redeemer & Life giving Spirit be with you now and always, Amen.
