‘One Meal’ comes to Engadine
Event Date: Tues 23rd August
This is an information and training evening for people who have registered with One Meal Sutherland Shire to volunteer with the weekly meal service opening in Engadine in September. Read on for links to position descriptions and how you can register as a volunteer.

Book Club
Next meeting: Wed 17th Aug, and every 3rd Wed of the month. There is both a morning group (10-11.30am) and an evening group (7.30-9pm).
You are warmly invited to join our community book club as we seek to educate ourselves on our First Nations peoples, past and present. The next book will be Truth-Telling by Henry Reynolds. Some copies are available to borrow.

Understanding and Managing Anxiety in Children
Event Date: Tues 21st June, 7.00-9.00pm
Cost: $20
A community education session for parents of children aged 5-12 years old, offered as a joint activity of Hopefield Kirrawee and Engadine Uniting Church. This seminar was sold out in previous years and covers the same concepts with updated material, so if you have found a previous seminar helpful you may confidently recommend this one to your friends.
“Out of Covid” live music fundraiser
Date: Sat 26th March
Time: 7.30-9.30pm
Relax and enjoy an entertaining, musical night of original blues/soul, jazz and folk music, sponsored by us. In the musical interval, hear stories about the young people helped by Project Youth, and help raise much-needed funds for the work of this independent Shire charity that supports vulnerable young people who need support services in housing.
Aboriginal Sunday/Day of Mourning
Each year the Uniting Church marks a Day of Mourning to reflect on the dispossession of Australia’s First Peoples and the ongoing injustices faced by First Nations people in this land. Today, you are invited to reflect on the effects of invasion and colonisation on First Peoples.

At this public forum we met our current local government representatives alongside the hopeful candidates and asked them about their vision for our community across the Sutherland Shire.
Sutherland Local Council Forum on Affordable Rental Housing
PARTNER EVENT by Sydney Alliance, Sutherland team.
We joined people from across the Shire online for a single-issue meeting with local council candidates to discuss affordable rental housing in the Shire, and asked for specific commitments in the next term of local government.
Aboriginal Sunday: Day of Mourning

You are invited to read and watch our third annual service to reflect upon and lament the effect of the invasion and colonisation of this nation upon First Peoples, using resources from the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress of the Uniting Church, and from the organisation Common Grace.
