On Monday 30 September and Thursday 3 October, sewing workshops were held for school students. One was for beginner or less confident sewers and another for students who have used a sewing machine before.
The first workshop was for the novice sewer or for those wanting to build their confidence in using a machine and understanding a basic pattern. Each participant had their own experienced sewing buddy to mentor them through the process of selecting their fabrics and creating their own travel roll.
The second workshop, held on 3 October, was for sewers with more experience who have attended one of our previous sewing workshops, done sewing at school or have previously used a sewing machine. Participants created a tote bag with pockets.
Sewing machines and fabrics were available as were buttons, ribbons and the like for the students to decorate and bling up their own creations. They were also welcome to bring their own fabric if they wished.
