ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF COUNTRY

With old man banksia and she-oak, with native lobelia and bush pea, flannel flower and lilly pilly we celebrate the wonder of God’s creation in this place. On this day when God’s mystery and creativity and unity of purpose is celebrated we acknowledge the Holy Spirit who keeps us in relationship with our risen Lord Christ Jesus. We also acknowledge this Dharawal land & their elders past and present joining our voices with their voices in our search for reconciliation and justice making.

YOU ARE WELCOME

All people are made in the image of God. If you know what it is to love and to be loved, you are welcome. If you have spent your whole life searching for such love and acceptance you are welcome to this safe place where Jesus is acknowledged as Lord. The Peace of the Lord be with you

Let us Pray, On this Trinity Sunday you are God the creator, wonder of intricate and majestic diversity. You are Christ the Saviour of the world, born as one of us. You are the Spirit of truth, wisdom & love, willing to dwell in us. You are holy & blessed. One God, eternal Trinity, be near to us the people formed in your image & close to the world which your light & love brings to life. Hallelujah!

Matthew 28:16 – 20 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit & teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ In this we hear God’s word of Life. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

LORD, your word is clear. As the Son was sent, so the Son sent the Spirit, and the Son and the Spirit with us, sends us into the world with a message to proclaim – Christ Jesus crucified and risen.

Our primary identity is as ‘sent’ people, always on a journey. Yet we have put up our tents and turned being church into immovable buildings of stone, timber and brick. Yet we as flesh and blood are the church, the sent ones to be salt and leaven in the world. Holy God, forgive us for pitching our tents, along with our usefulness and witness to one geographical space, here just in this place. Remind and encourage us again and again that you have gone ahead of us into the Galilees where we live and work, there we will see you as you promised to be with us, always. Forgive our timid hearts and our doubting minds. We know that you are always there to lead us, if we could trust you to point the way through the lives of the people we encounter; then we would see you and be refreshed in our journey. So let us claim and embrace the Good News of your grace-filled faithfulness of presence and purpose. In the name of our pilgrim God. Amen

The Lord be with you

And also with you

Lift up your hearts

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Who is this Jesus? He was always the guest.

In the homes of Peter & Jairus, Martha & Susanna. He was always the guest.

At the meal tables of the wealthy, where he pled the case, of the poor and the powerless

He was always the guest. Upsetting polite company, befriending marginalised people

Welcoming the stranger and outcast, he was always the guest.

But here, at this table, he is Host.

Those who wish to serve him, must first be served by him.

Those who want to follow him, must first be fed by him.

For this is the table where God intends us to be nourished;

This is the time when God can make us new.

So come, you who are hungry and thirst for a deeper faith, for a better world, for a life of justice.

Jesus Christ, who sat at our tables, now invites us to be his guests.

Let us then respond to his invitation with the words of the eternal hymn:

BENEDICTION
