Everyone was cordially invited to join our Eco Stitch’n’Sew group’s latest community sewing and craft project: Peaceing Together at Christmas. Whether people were seasoned stitchers or just loved getting creative, we were delighted for everyone to be part of this special initiative!
In September we hosted the Travelling Suitcase Fabric Art Exhibition at our new location, and one standout piece—The Inchies (see image above)—sparked the idea for this project. This Christmas, we came together to create “Twinchies”: small 2in x 2in (5 cm x 5 cm) pieces that express what peace means to you. Twinchies can be made from fabric, cardboard, wood, or any material you prefer.
People chose to stitch, paint, or glue images such as a dove, a peace symbol, hands joined together, a calm landscape, or even a simple word or phrase that brings peace to mind. They thought about colours, textures, or patterns that helped them feel calm and connected. There’s no right or wrong—just your unique expression!
These unique artworks, no matter how simple or elaborate, help create a beautiful tapestry of peace and connection in our community. Together, our individual pieces make a powerful statement about what we can achieve when we come together with creativity and hope. Every Twinchie counts, and everyone’s voice matters.
We love seeing everyone’s creative ideas and share in this meaningful celebration of peace. Thank you for helping us make our community a more connected, peaceful place this Christmas.
